Diamondbacks Lose, 7-5, at RFK Stadium
|
Albert Belle left his imprint on the 7-5 Washington win against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Belle, who finished 3rd in the UL in slugging percentage with .528 in 1991, was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jim Neidlinger was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Troy Percival.
Eric Davis, who is a four-time All-Star, helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Davis said.
