Cubs Fall to Gant, Devil Rays
With left fielder Ron Gant leading the charge, the Orlando Devil Rays defeated the Chicago Cubs, 9-3, at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Gant, who finished 2nd in the UL in extra base hits with 82 in 1990, was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winner was Shane Reynolds, who threw 126 pitches over 8.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. The 4th-place Devil Rays improved to 25-23.
