Royals Rally For Late Win Over Red Sox
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Kansas City Royals eventually prevailed at Fenway Park.
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Henry L. Rodriguez, the Boston Red Sox suffered a 6-5 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Rodriguez hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Mark Guthrie earned the win for Kansas City. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 6-3.
Kansas City third baseman Tim Naehring contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the ninth. With two down, he hit a changeup into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 33rd hit of the season and put the Royals ahead, 6-5.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Naehring.
The Royals have an impressive 32-15 record.
