Mets Fall Short, 2-1, at Oakland
|
Derek Lilliquist pitched a gem to lead Oakland to a 2-1 victory over the New York Mets. Jay Howell got credit for the save for Oakland. It was his 13th of the year. The Athletics, at 26-20, sit in 4th place in the United League West Division.
Rickey Henderson swatted a solo home run for Oakland in the bottom of the eighth. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 1.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Michael Kritikos.
