Texas Slaps 2-1 Loss on Red Sox

Fenway Park was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Kenny Rogers never let Boston get something going. The Texas left-hander commanded his sinker in pitching the Rangers to a 2-1 win. Mark Clear, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings.
Rich Becker delivered a big hit for Texas. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Good ballgame," said Boston manager Brett Williams. "But we came up on the short end."
The Rangers, at 20-28, inhabit last place in the Federal League Central Division.
