Javier Lifts Cardinals to 5-2 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals trumped the Boston Red Sox, 5-2, at Fenway Park. St. Louis left fielder Stan Javier was named player of the game for his performance. He went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The save went to Dan Plesac, his 1st this season. The Cardinals now have a mark of 27-23.
Matt Williams broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth with a 2-run home run. It put the Cardinals in front, 4-2. For the game, Williams was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel.
