Dodgers Get Past New York for 5-4 Win
|
The Dodgers faced a stiff challenge from New York pitcher Takehiro Ishii, but persevered to claim a win at Dodger Stadium. The final score was 5-4. Ishii went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Los Angeles reliever Blas Minor was credited with the win, to go to 4-1. Darren Dreifort took the loss for New York. The Dodgers, now 23-25, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Had Craig Worthington not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Worthington hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Dodgers.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Worthington.
