Colorado got a strong outing from Tom Rowe as the Rockies defeated the Washington Senators, 3-1, at Mile High Stadium. The win was Jason Christiansen's in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Dan Plesac took the loss for Washington. The save was credited to Joey Eischen, his 10th.

In the bottom of the seventh inning of a 1-1 tie, Colorado second baseman Damion Easley hit a run-scoring single. It broke the deadlock and put Colorado on top, 2-1.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Colorado manager . "Our pregame was pretty good."

Colorado currently is in first place in the United League West Division at 27-22.
