Good production from center fielder Jeff Kunkel helped the New York Yankees topple the Minnesota Twins, 4-1. Kunkel was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Yankees. Andy Ashby got the win, improving to 4-3. He worked 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 5. The Yankees saw their record improve to 24-25.
Early in the game, Kunkel had a 2-run home run for New York. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Yankees on top, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Yankees manager Patrick McQuail, "I like our chances."
