Hentgen Sends San Diego Bats to Deep Freeze
Magic was in the air and on the mound at Olympic Stadium today as Pat Hentgen held the San Diego Padres spellbound in his 4-0 shutout victory. The Montreal Expos pitcher went the distance, rang up 8 strikeouts, walked 2 and held the Padres to 4 hits to garner the win.

"He just had us in his thrall," San Diego manager Matt Dodds said later. "We couldn't put anything together against him."

Hentgen has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 6-1 record with a 2.62 ERA. The Montreal reliever has limited opposing batters to a .175 batting average.
