Athletics Snag 2-0 Win
|
The Detroit Tigers wasted an impressive 7.1-inning effort from starter Ramon J. Martinez, falling, 2-0, to the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. Oakland is now 19-30.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Mark McLemore came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Detroit pitcher Francisco Oliveras, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Oakland on top, 1-0.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said McLemore.
