Giants Throttle Orioles, 5-0

The San Francisco Giants topped the Baltimore Orioles, 5-0, in United League action at Candlestick Park. The player of the game was San Francisco pitcher Floyd Youmans. Youmans got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 5 over 7.1 innings. Youmans allowed no earned runs. Randy Myers earned the save for San Francisco, his 1st of the year.
Alvin Davis went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for San Francisco. In a tie game with no one out in the bottom of the second, Davis came through with a 2-run home run. It put the Giants in front, 2-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Francisco manager Alen Maglajac. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Giants keep rolling, raising their record to 5-0.
