Athletics Clip Expos in Tight Contest

The Oakland Athletics beat the Montreal Expos, 6-5, at Oakland Coliseum. The Athletics got a fine performance from designated hitter Rickey Henderson, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Today's win puts Oakland at 21-30, while Montreal falls to 34-18.
Oakland first baseman John Olerud helped the Athletics go up, 6-5, in the bottom of the ninth inning. With the game tied, Olerud hit a run-scoring single off Montreal pitcher Mike Jeffcoat.
Henderson described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
