Ortiz Goes Off, But Twins Win
Boston designated hitter David Ortiz had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 12-7, to Minnesota at Metrodome. Ortiz was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Minnesota reliever Gene Walter picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Pete Harnisch was collared with the loss. Rob Dibble recorded the save for Minnesota, his 8th of the season.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Metrodome seemed to enjoy watching the Federal League action.

The last-place Red Sox have dropped 5 straight games.
