Red Sox Turn Back White Sox, 8-6
|
The Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox cranked it up at Comiskey Park.
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago White Sox, 8-6, in Federal League action at Comiskey Park, with Boston pitcher Mike Remlinger named player of the game. Remlinger, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and one out in the top of the fourth inning. That's when third baseman Craig Grebeck, who finished 4th in the FL in doubles with 40 last year, drew a walk. The Red Sox went on to win.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Grebeck, "but we got it done."
The loss drops Chicago to 2-4.
