Giants Beat Tigers, 2-0
|
The San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigers, 2-0. San Francisco pitcher and Ridgewood, New Jersey, native Bob Sebra led the way. The 4th-place Giants improved to 21-29.
Sandy Alomar Jr. had a big solo home run for the Giants in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Marty Bystrom, who is tied for 2nd in the UL in complete games with 4, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 2-0.
"It was a well-pitched game," Detroit manager Julio Izquierdo said.
