Rangers Slap 5-1 Loss on New York
|
Texas starter Kenny Rogers kept the New York offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his sinker in leading the Rangers to a 5-1 win. Rogers got the win, improving to 4-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Texas is last in the Federal League Central Division with a record of 23-30.
Texas used a well-timed hit by Wade Boggs to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Rangers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's a mindset," said Rogers. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
