Spiders Handed 3-2 Loss by Minnesota
|
Minnesota pitcher Pedro Astacio had a large part in his team beating the Cleveland Spiders, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Astacio, now 6-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Trevor Hoffman earned save number 13.
Had Shane Andrews not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Andrews hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Twins.
"Tough loss," said Cleveland manager Will Henderson. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
The third-place Twins now have a record of 27-26.
