Minnesota first baseman Frank Thomas had a 5-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Boston Red Sox, 7-5. Minnesota reliever Jerry Spradlin got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Doug Bochtler was tagged with the loss. The Twins raised their record to 4-2.

Thomas had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 changeup from Doug Bochtler, he banged a grand slam home run to right-center, giving the Twins a 7-5 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Thomas.

"We take it day by day here," said Thomas, "and today was a good one for us."
