Senators Lose, 3-1, at Kingdome
|
The Seattle Pilots topped the Washington Senators, 3-1, in United League action at Kingdome. The player of the game was Seattle pitcher and Baltimore, Maryland native Chris Haney. Haney, now 5-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. The Pilots bumped their record to 29-24 with this latest triumph.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the bottom of the third inning. That's when left fielder Dante Bichette, who finished 3rd in the UL in doubles with 42 in 1989, drew a walk. The Pilots went on to win.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Haney said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
