Mets Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Giants
|
The Mets grabbed a win, 4-2, at Candlestick Park, overcoming a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Butch Henry. Henry went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. New York reliever Wayne Edwards was credited with the win, to go to 4-1. Randy Myers took the loss for San Francisco. The Mets saw their win-loss record go to 30-23. At the same time, the Giants fell to 29-24.
Pedro Munoz made it 4-2 in favor of New York when he delivered a 3-run home run. It came with one out in the top of the ninth. The Mets went on to win.
"The more wins we pile up," said Munoz, "the more I like our chances."
