The inspired effort of Montreal second baseman Jeff Kent was not enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics. Kent was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. At 22-31, the Athletics find themselves in 5th place in the United League West Division.
