The Cincinnati Reds got a strong performance from pitcher Scott Bankhead, who stymied the Kansas City offense en route to a 4-2 win at Riverfront Stadium. The save was credited to Todd Worrell, his 12th. The Reds bumped their record to 31-23 with this latest triumph.

Cincinnati took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 1st, Javy Lopez hit a 2-run home run to make it 4-2, Reds.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Bankhead said.
