Rangers Beat Visiting Twins, 8-5
|
Jorge Posada was instrumental in his team's 8-5 triumph over the Minnesota Twins. The catcher went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Texas Rangers. Angel Miranda, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held the Twins to 5 earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. With the win over Minnesota, the Rangers improved to 26-28.
Posada contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Texas in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 4-2, Posada took a changeup from Darren Oliver and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Rangers to leap in front, 6-4.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Posada said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
