New York Bats Go Silent in 5-0 Loss
|
Right-hander Scott Sanders mesmerized the New York Yankees while leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-0 victory. Pittsburgh now has a 3-game win streak.
Mark Whiten put Pittsburgh in front, 4-0, when he took Jim Abbott downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 7th home run of the season.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Whiten.
