Rangers Turn Back Twins, 5-3
|
Texas Rangers starter Steve Trachsel was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Minnesota Twins, 5-3. The winning pitcher was Trachsel, now 6-4. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. Dan Plesac picked up the save, his 2nd.
Mark Loretta put Texas in front, 3-1, when he took Hideo Nomo downtown. His 3-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 1st home run of the season.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Loretta said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Texas occupies 4th place in the Federal League Central Division at 27-28.
