Rockies Jolt Athletics with Late Rally
|
Colorado Rockies starter Al Leiter pitched effectively against the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 3-2 win. The save was credited to Robb Nen, his 14th. Colorado goes to 36-19. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Colorado shortstop Gary Disarcina. In the top of the ninth inning, with one out and a runner on 1st, Disarcina hit a single to help Colorado seize the win.
Oakland manager Jim B said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
