The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the New York Yankees, 5-2. Starting pitcher Pete Harnisch was an essential part of his team's success. Paul Assenmacher converted his 1st save in 3 tries. Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 16-40 record.

In the top of the fourth inning of a 0-0 tie, Boston designated hitter David Ortiz hit a 2-run double. It broke the deadlock and put Boston on top, 2-0.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Ortiz told the Boston Chronicle.
