Red Sox Pull Even With 7-2 Victory
|
Spirited fans at Riverfront Stadium greeted the Cincinnati Reds for their clash with the Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox topped the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 7-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Hector Villanueva. Villanueva went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Red Sox on the day. Erik Hanson got the win, improving to 5-4. He held the Reds to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 0.
Villanueva came through with some timely hitting for Boston. With the score 3-2 in the top of the ninth and one down, Villanueva hit a 2-1 fastball for a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season made it 7-2, Boston.
"Feels good to get the job done," Villanueva said after the game.
