Multi-HR Game for Daniels in 7-5 Win
|
The Minnesota Twins defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-5. Earning player of the game honors was designated hitter Kal Daniels, who was 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. Minnesota reliever Trevor Hoffman got the win, raising his record to 2-4. Steve Chitren was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Twins improved to 24-33.
Minnesota took a 7-5 lead on Mark Grudzielanek's 53rd hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Grudzielanek hit in the top of the ninth, left St. Louis pitcher Bryce Florie shaking his head.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach.
