Baltimore pitcher Tom Urbani gave the Expos all they could handle, but in the end, Montreal left Memorial Stadium with a 8-5 win. Urbani allowed no earned runs on no hits over 5 innings. Pedro Martinez got credit for the win, improving to 8-1. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings. Montreal goes to 40-17. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.

In the top of the first, the Expos took a 2-0 lead when Travis Fryman grounded out, driving in 1 run.
