Giants Sneak Past Pilots, 5-4
|
San Francisco starter Floyd Youmans pitched effectively against the Seattle Pilots at Candlestick Park. The right-hander led his team to a 5-4 win. The win was credited to Jim Poole in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Alan Embree took the loss. The Giants have an impressive 40-15 record.
Steve Finley delivered a big hit for the Giants. The veteran center fielder belted a solo home run in the bottom of the 15th. The longball put San Francisco on top, 5-4. Overall, Finley went 2-5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times.
"This place sure got loud," said Alen Maglajac, the San Francisco manager.
