Orlando beat New York on the strength of starter Hipolito Pichardo's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Pichardo, the winner, moves to 2-3. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. With the win, the Sun Rays have a record of 21-36.

Phil Plantier went 2-3 with a home run for Orlando. With no one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Plantier, who is tied for 6th in the FL in RBI with 45, had a clutch at-bat. Facing New York hurler Mike J Grace, he hit a solo home run to give the Sun Rays a 2-1 lead.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Plantier told the Orlando Daily News.
