Marlins Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Florida pitcher Butch Henry did his part in helping his team beat the New York Yankees, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Henry went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-5. Florida goes to 38-20. The win puts them 6½ games up in their division.
Florida left fielder Juan Encarnacion gave his club a productive at-bat in the top of the eighth inning. With the bases empty and the Marlins leading 3-2, Encarnacion hit a solo home run.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Florida manager Stephen Ginter.
