White Sox Continue Skid Thanks to Cirillo, Cubs
The exploits of shortstop Jeff Cirillo, who is tied for 9th in the FL in doubles with 14, helped the Chicago Cubs defeat the Chicago White Sox, 7-2. Cirillo went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Randy Tomlin got credit for the win, improving to 8-3. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits in 9 innings. Chicago has now lost 4 straight.

Scott Brosius, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1990 draft, aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first. For the game, the third baseman went 1-3 with a walk.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Cirillo told reporters after the game.
