Yankees Bridle Sun Rays, 3-2
|
New York Yankees starter Mark Langston turned in a sterling performance against the Orlando Sun Rays, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The Yankees, at 26-32, sit in last place in the Federal League East Division.
Kelly Gruber had a big 2-run double for the Yankees in the bottom of the first inning. With New York leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Allen Watson and stroked the double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Yankees ahead, 3-0.
"We played hard and won," said Langston. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
