The Montreal Expos racked up a win at Olympic Stadium, bumping off the Detroit Tigers, 3-2. Charles Nagy, who started for Montreal, pitched effectively for his team. Nagy, now 6-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Ken Howell closed the door for Montreal, picking up his 16th save of the year.
Hal Morris, the Montreal first baseman, contributed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the score 3-2, Expos. For the game, Morris was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
