Big Day by Cirillo Sparks Cubs Win
|
Chicago shortstop Jeff Cirillo had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Minnesota Twins, 7-2. Eric King got the win, improving to 6-4. He held the Twins to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The 'W' lifts Chicago's record to 32-27.
Luis Gonzalez came through for Chicago when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, he hit a 0-1 fastball to center field, staking his team to a 3-1 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Cirillo, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
