Royals Turn Back Milwaukee, 5-3
|
Milwaukee got a terrific performance from catcher Jorge Posada, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kansas City Royals. Kansas City won the Royals Stadium contest, 5-3. Posada was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City has 5 straight wins, Milwaukee 3 straight losses.
The Royals got a big at-bat from center fielder Andruw Jones. For the game, Jones was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 10th double of the season gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead.
Jones said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
