Orioles Double Up Montreal, 4-2
Baltimore Orioles starter Ben McDonald pitched effectively against the Montreal Expos at Olympic Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 4-2 win. In 7.1 innings, McDonald surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Roger McDowell converted his 7th save in 11 tries.

The Orioles beat the Expos in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Johnny Damon produced in the top of the first. Batting against Montreal pitcher Chris Nabholz, Damon gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Damon said.

Baltimore's record now stands at 26-32, placing them 5th in the United League East Division.
