Padres Get Road Win, 2-1
|
San Diego starter Chuck Finley had a strong outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Finley, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 7 walks. The last-place Padres improved to 22-36.
It could have been a different outcome for San Diego, had it not been for Geronimo Berroa, the 32-year old left fielder . Berroa contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put San Diego up, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the San Diego Today, Finley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
