Sierra belts 2 home runs as White Sox Squeeze Past St. Louis
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox cranked it up at Comiskey Park.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-6, at Comiskey Park. Chicago left fielder Ruben Sierra was named player of the game for his superb performance. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Xavier Hernandez notched his 8th save in 14 chances.
With the clubs tied 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth and runners on 1st and 2nd, left fielder Sierra, who finished 5th in the FL in triples with 9 in 1991, hit a 3-run home run.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Sierra, "but we got it done."
Even with the win, the White Sox have a dismal 18-42 record.
