The first-place Kansas City Royals welcomed Milwaukee to Royals Stadium.
The Kansas City Royals stopped the Milwaukee Creams, 7-3, at Royals Stadium. The Royals got a big game from Jim Thome, who went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Rheal Cormier got the win, improving to 7-3. He worked 8.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3.
The Royals got a big at-bat from center fielder Andruw Jones. For the game, Jones was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Kansas City a 4-2 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Jones.
