Blue Jays Lose, 3-2, at RFK Stadium
|
Washington starter Jim Neidlinger pitched effectively against the Toronto Blue Jays at RFK Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. The Senators have an impressive 38-22 record.
The Blue Jays had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Senators going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old left fielder Marty Cordova came to the plate. Cordova hit a solo home run on a first pitch changeup from Toronto hurler John Smiley. It was Cordova's 4th home run of the year.
"We were in it," said Toronto manager Jose Mata. "We just didn't score enough runs."
