Red Sox Win Thriller, 3-2
|
Boston Red Sox starter Tom Gordon turned in a top-notch performance against the Chicago White Sox at Fenway Park. The result was a win for the Red Sox, 3-2. Boston reliever John Hudek picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Joel Johnston was saddled with the loss. The losses continue to mount for Chicago, which has now dropped 8 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Kevin Seitzer came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Chicago pitcher Joel Johnston, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 3-2.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gordon.
