Yankees Take Tight Tilt
|
New York right fielder Bobby Abreu played a vital role in his team's 4-3 triumph over Minnesota. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for New York. Greg Hibbard got the win, improving to 3-6. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Even with the win, the Yankees have a dismal 17-43 record.
An important at-bat for New York came with one out in the top of the seventh. With the bases empty, Abreu hit a solo home run, which contributed to the Yankees win.
Abreu said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
