Anderson has 3 hit night as Spiders Squeeze Past Chicago
Cleveland beat Chicago at League Park, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Garret Anderson, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Cleveland reliever Willie Banks got the win, raising his record to 5-3. Frank DiPino was tagged with the loss. Cleveland now owns a record of 32-30.

Anderson had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the eighth when the 24-year old left fielder hit a 2-run home run. The home run gave Cleveland the lead, 5-4. It was his 4th home run of the season.

Anderson said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
