Sun Rays Throttle Cardinals, 6-1
|
The Orlando Sun Rays defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-1. Earning player of the game honors was right fielder Phil Plantier, who was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Orlando occupies last place in the Federal League East Division at 25-38.
Orlando used the timely hitting of Ken Caminiti to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sun Rays on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Plantier told the Orlando Daily News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
