Tigers Lose Again, 5-2, to Padres
|
Conditions were not ideal but San Diego and Detroit were able to put their game in the books.
San Diego rode a good effort from starter Pete Schourek to beat the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. The final score was 5-2. Schourek got the win, improving to 1-8. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 5 innings. Schourek allowed 2 earned runs. Stan Belinda, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Ed Taubensee was a prime factor in the win for the Padres. In the top of the sixth with two out, the 28-year old catcher hit a 2-run double. He was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments to the San Diego Today, Taubensee said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Detroit's current losing streak is now 7 games.
