Gruber Helps Baltimore Cruise to 13-3 Win
|
The Baltimore Orioles easily defeated the Colorado Rockies, 13-3, at Memorial Stadium, with third baseman Kelly Gruber a main contributor to the win. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 12. His record now stands at 4-3. Baltimore is 5th in the United League East Division with a record of 28-34.
In the bottom of the second, Baltimore designated hitter Ed Sprague Jr. had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and two out, Sprague Jr. stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 3-1, Baltimore. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We maximized our offense today," said Baltimore skipper Daniel Ward. "That makes everyone's life easier."
