Expos Top Athletics Behind Nabholz, 4-1
|
Chris Nabholz never let the Athletics get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Expos to a 4-1 win. Mike Jeffcoat, credited with the save, is now 8 for 11 in save opportunities. The Athletics, now 24-39, have lost 4 in a row.
Nabholz was effective for Montreal, seldom allowing the Athletics to square up a pitch. The left-hander tossed 125 pitches over 8.1 innings. He limited Oakland to just 1 run on 5 hits.
Nabholz called the triumph "a good team win."
