McDonald Dominant in Baltimore Win
|
Baltimore right-hander Ben McDonald was sensational in shutting out the Oakland Athletics, 4-0. The last-place Orioles now have a win-loss record of 24-40.
McDonald was the winning pitcher. He raised his season record to 4-6. In 8 innings of work, McDonald gave up no earned runs on 2 hits, while striking out 5. The Athletics were never able to generate much offense.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," McDonald told reporters after the game.
